Hello people, how common is a Amazon to PWC move ?
I’m interviewing for a Senior Associate role and TC seems to be more competitive than role in L5.
TC $114k- Base AMZ- $73k +$38kstocks ( vesting 17k$ due next year)
TC $135k Base PWC -$81$ + Bonuses ( 50k$)
Looking for managerial skills which the PWC role avails, and L6 promo doesn’t seem to be happening soon in current role. I’m also mentally stretched. I hear WLB in PWC is just as busy but can anyone confirm if this move makes any sense. Google Amazon

“It’s not happening” is a poor excuse for not working harder
No one cares about the rest of them except CISA for it audit
Facts. It’s a matter of if you want it, not if you’re smart enough for it. Anyone can get it if they are determined

I got the CPA and I have ADHD and put it off for 4 years. It’s completely doable it’s not that bad. Only 2 sections are painful and honestly, 3 months of focus and no life can get you past them.
If I can do it anyone can I’m not an over achiever I can be lazy and I welcome any and all distractions. Didn’t go to Ivy League school or anything either just a city college. Believe in yourself!
Otherwise if you go into internal audit CIA is great, the rest are kinda worthless minus CISA if you’re in IT as was mentioned before.
Citi 1 and PwC 1 - my ADD has me terrified as well. I am having a hard time grasping the concepts in audit, both at work and while studying. I try my hardest to not feel defeated but I feel drained as I am wrapping up my second busy season. 😭
I have ADHD, and other learning disabilities.
I passed the CPA exams in 12 months while working full time in PA and took care of my dying parent.
No excuse. It's not rocket science.
Mine was to cram so I couldn't procrastinate. Sucked for a couple weeks then I'd wait for results before studying for the next part. If you spend 100 hours per part you should easily crush each one.
I’m not trying to bash anyone but why do people always feel the need to keep putting it in someone’s face even when they let it know they don’t want CPA . I get it you thought you could not pass it , you struggled etc and overcame your anxiety , and all .
People need to realize that some people don’t just want it, yes it helps you advance and all. But I have also seen and met people who advance and are making money without CPA. The fact that you were able to pass and overcome all you did , does not mean someone else is ready to. If you don’t have the advice for them just move up.
Also, here’s some inspiration - someone who I used to work with in private lateraled in as a senior manager there. She had no CPA or EA and was not that smart. Not sure how she advanced to beyond senior since most of her experience before that job was in public, but now she may be next in line to take the tax director’s job when he retires, and that person made about 500k a year and worked no more than 40 hours a week with large patches of downtime throughout.
So the point is you definitely CAN do well in tax and accounting without a CPA
Lol don’t, SM 1! I actually think it’s more impressive to get farther in your career WITHOUT these designations. Many many people can grind in public accounting for years or pass the CPA. Fewer can make SM or director of large prestigious companies without this work experience/designation
I know it is painful, but if I did it you can do it too. English as a second language, I failed so many times but no one cares, bc I'm a CPA now.
Just get the cpa
Hey, you could get the EA instead of the CPA. Way easier than CPA, and some firms allow an EA to be promoted to manager interchangeably with a CPA (either is ok). CohnReznick does this. Feel free to DM me if you have any interest in CR
Will look into EA. Thanks
I love that you were able to make it 6 years to without CPA - there is so much pressure out there to get it, as if you can’t succeed in accounting without it. Anyway - i would say the most valuable one would depend on what your long term goal is - what are you considering for ex opportunities?
Same here. It was a lot of pressure since college of people and employers wanting me to get it. I fell into accounting on accident and it was never my passion lol just a way to make money. But I’m headed to consulting soon
Take the EA.
I’ve also had a very hard time completing all 4 courses. And I have ADHD too (not saying it is an excuse - but definitely another hurdle). I still want to complete it in case I ever want to open my own tax practice. Any suggestions on how to focus would be great. (My first route is to also make sure I get the right treatment as well as I don’t take any meds currently)
