I heard that the big accounting firms are using covid as an excuse to cut benefits despite some firms actually growing during covid. Is this true? If its true thats kinda sad theyre using covid as excuse to increase profitability at the expense of employees. Seems like a pretty obvious lie.

Been hell of a year so far. Sort of bittersweet. Lost my job a few months back. Laid off the first time. But my net worth is all time high. And not only that, this has been the fastest increase. 401k up 40% this year. Personal brokerage up 40%. And just refinanced at 2.5. Not sure whether to be sad or happy. Guess will go with happy for now.

Advice on what to do when i cant afford therapy? I had a few free sessions through company benefits but that's all done now. It helped. Felt like i was at a much better place at the end of it and was given exercises to do. Then two weeks later, feel super blue again and cant be bothered with those exercises now. Hard to be motivated to stay on track when i feel so sad about everything. Thoughts?

Life / Career Advice: I applied to medical school since my MCAT score was set to expire, ended up getting into 1 program. I also have an opp to join a well funded/well established Healthtech Startup (6 figure salary w/ equity + benefits) as a BD professional. I enjoy the business side of things and am unsure if I would end up practicing Medicine (medicine is also a long arduous path). At the same time, having an MD holds a lot of clout/authority in HC. Any thoughts on what I should do?

I’m going to be a dad! But I have some questions. When should I tell my manager/teams? I’m up for senior promotion this year, will this impact that promotion? For those of you that work in public what tips do you have for managing your work and family responsibilities? For context, my wife, once she’s done with maternity leave, will only work 25-30 hours a week. I know working in public and having a new born is probably going to be a lot to juggle, but I have to make it work.

Advice needed: looking to leave public accounting and tax for good. I have two offers between a financial analyst and an accountant role. Based on your experience, which of the two has the best/better exit opportunities (should I decide to pursue the finance realm or something else) and better work life balance? The bigger pay as an analyst is tempting, but the company benefits are meh.
